Goodbye Argentina

This will be our last day in South America.

Our flight departs at 11:30 PM, so we arrange a late check-out at the Hotel Munro which gave us most of the day to go back downtown to see some more tourist sights ...

like a shanty town

the soccer stadium

the busy streets of central Buenos Aires, and to buy some t-shirts.

Looks like that building lacks central cooling!

Then we headed back to the hotel to get packed up and ready for the flight home.
A few more pics of common sites in Munro:
We were told there is a helmet law, but the wording is a little lacking. "Wearing" a helmet anywhere on the body complies with the law! Wearing it on your head is brutal in the heat of the day, so there are many ingenious ways to satisfy the law and keep cool (or be cool).

Wearing your helmet on your arm may be legal, but it is a sure fire way to end up with a broken arm on a get-off!
Of course wearing a helmet this way is also legal. But why bother? From what we have heard, the police rarely ticket anyone for not wearing a helmet anyway.

Another broken arm waiting to happen.

Texting is OK, as long as you have one foot firmly planted on the asphalt
Here we have a father and his two kids out for a ride. We saw as many as 5 people on a single scooter.
This is a much safer way to travel. Drivers license not required and fuel is cheap.

Some more buildings displaying intricate beautiful architectural details.

Goodbye Buenos Aires, goodbye Argentina, goodbye South America!

Hasta la vista
Until we see you again... (and we will!)
