Wine Country

Leaving our nice hostal, we had a short riding day as we only went from Uspallata to Mendoza – 120 kms.

It was a hot ride, in the low 30’s but the snowcapped Andes were almost always in view. It was like a security blanket knowing that if things got too heated we could just turn west for some relief.

This is wine country, and the fields of grapevines were endless.

We also saw truckloads of garlic being hauled to who knows where. I didn’t think the world needed the amount of garlic we saw.

Mendoza is a very nice, modern clean city. We chose a nice hotel right in the middle of downtown from which we could wander on foot for shopping and eating.

A nice Irish Pub caught our eye during our afternoon walk and we chose to go back there to eat that evening. It was a gorgeous warm relaxing evening sitting at the sidewalk tables observing the locals and planning our next day.

Argentina has bugs! Not sure what kind, but they hurt when they hit my (Corinne) shins, and make a loud thud when they hit my helmet.

Oh yes… Mendoza has a Walmart Supercenter (rolling eyes back in head) and the obligatory McDonald’s!

Maybe Bolivia wasn't so bad after all. Those things didn't exist. And if you ordered Pollo (chicken) for lunch you could count on it being fresh. There was no refrigeration so the chicken was butchered that morning (hopefully)!
